Wynken, Blynken, and Nod

Eugene Fields excelled at poems for bedtime.  The most famous of these poems is "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod."  You can read the whole poem here.

For years, I've wanted to embroidery a crib quilt that featured the characters of the poem.  I've held onto this fabric to use especially for this purpose:

Even though I have various old children's books that illustrate the poem but none really rang my bell.

So I waited.  There was a wonderful Wynken, Blynken, and Nod quilt kit offered in the 1930s:

I used to look for the pattern for this quilt but couldn't find it...until last week.  There is a quilt kit offered at Etsy for $39.00 but I just wanted the pattern.  I found it on Sentimental Stitches here for half the price.

Have a sweet and safe day!

  1. Whenever I see the Secretary of State Antony Blinken I think of this poem. :)

  2. When I was a child I remember the curtains in the young children's Sunday school room were of fabric depicting that poem... or was it The Owl and the Pussycat? I was there often, playing with my older sister while Mother practiced the organ for Sunday services.
