Men Who Quilt #9


It's a snow day for many of us!
Wishing you a safe and happy day!

Today we celebrate men who quilted as therapy.

This is a topic we can certainly understand. So many of us have used our sewing skills to relay anxiety and self-comfort in times of physical or emotional pain.
1923: North Carolina

Around 1905, Charles Lewis of Massachusetts learned quiltmaking while recupperating from pneumonia at his sister's house.  I suspect he made a crazy quilt:

During the depression, an Illinois man was publicized for quiltmaking, a task he took up after being disabled:


Tomorrow we will look at this topic closer and a pioneer in using quiltmaking for therapy.
