We had another snow on Tuesday, probably an inch or so here. By Wednesday there was a coat of ice on the snow that had fallen and it was a bit trecherous walking the dog.
The squirrels in our area seemed to have a problem finding their food. By Wednesday we caught one enterprising squirrel on our Beauty Berry bush devouring the berries:
It's interesting because squirrels are always burying their food. Whenever I dig soil, I find peanuts that they have hid in the soil. The thing is they seem to forget where they have buried them.
So this little factoid fascinated me:
i used to have a dogwood tree in my front yard...in fall after leaves dropped it would be loaded with red berries....for a few days the tree would be full of birds...once they got them all it was just bare branches until spring....amazing how God provides for them...
ReplyDeleteLovely illustrations and beautiful photo of the squirrel ❤️ Warm greetings from a retired lady living in Montreal, Canada 😊 ❤️ 🇨🇦
ReplyDeleteOh my, I'm loving that header photo, Michele. Isn't it neat to learn these interesting facts about squirrels and chickadees. Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteI usually wait to clean out the old dried stalks until the Spring. I thought I was lazy gardener but I guess not! ;) We see everything at our feeder and fill in constantly all winter too.
