Where's a cat when you need one?
Suffragists faced a lot of opposition and some of it was quite creative.
Here is one story I found that occurred in Mount Carmel, PA. Mount Carmel is in what we call the coal region (I have family in that area) and it appears to have been a hot bed of suffrage in the early 20th century.
We tell a different story of opposition in our program but one interesting aspect is that there always seems to be one woman--usually elderly--who was not going to tolerant any such nonsense and confronts the problem.
